The 2nd floor of the house is currently carpeted with the same carpet. I am going to install 3/4 inch red oak in the hallway and steps. What do I use to transition from the hardwood to the rooms that are carpeted? One room is perpendicular, too are parallel and one is at an angel to the wood strips. Do I just end it with a piece of the strip flooring? I got a transition piece from the place that I purchased the floor from, but it is only 5/16 inches thick and the flooring is 3/4 so I cannot see how that would work.

I like using a piece of the flooring and putting a bevel at a 25 degree angle to ease the edge. Make it so the wood slopes to the height of the carpet, belt sand, oscillate, and finish the cut edge like the floor.
