Hello, I have a problem. I bought Bruce floors 3/4 in. prefinished oak from Lowe's and had them nailed in and installed. When it was finished the hardwood abutts to carpet at angles in various locations. The representative states the only recommendation that Armstrong(Bruce) has for these floors is a transition strip that is placed on top of the hardwood and carpet, which in turn leaves a large ugly finish board(beveled at both sides) that sticks up over the carpet and hardwood. Here is my question: can they or do they make a header board that works for the transition between the carpet and hardwood for Bruce floors that lays flat for the transition? Do I have to hire a craftsman that can make a header board work to create the finish we want? Please advise me if this can be done so it will look like a site finished product instead of an after thought. Thank You

There are available to you, a trim piece called a carpet reducer that will do what you want, they come prefinished for most manufacturers (including Bruce). Most are made by Artistic Trims in Minnisota, and Finium in Quebec; although you will probably have to get them from a retail or wholesale flooring outlet. Note that these are far easier to install during the installation of the hardwood. They CAN be retrofitted though, by a skilled floor guy.
