I have older home and want to install hardwood second floor landing but need help do we put in the Cherry nosing first (4x 8) hall that is open stair case - with wrought iron railing ? there is an old painted nosing 1 1/2" attached to the existing chip board plywood subfloor - So what is best practice ? remove this nosing and put on the new American Cherry 1st then install the hardwood? I'm new at this a girl and contractors get me everytime

Help Please one contractor put in on top and it isn't right but goes to basement so no issue - but second floor has an open stair casing

Yes I usually install the nosing first and then work off of it. Just have to make sure it's square to the house.
