My installer used Roberts 1407 to glue down solid wood over concrete. The concrete is in 12 yr hold home and replacing carpet. The wood was kept in the house for over 2 weeks. The day after glued down the wood is cupping badly in one room (used 5/16x3). The other room has 3/8 x 3 hardwood and it has a very slight almost unnoticable cupping.

My concern is that I looked at the adhesive bucket and it clearly states not to use on solid wood or on wood over 1/2 thick. He said he has used in the past and used because cleaned up better. He says that the cupping should go down after the glue dries in a couple of days. The 5/16 wood that is badly cupped might have flattened out someone, but is still badly cupped after 48 hours.

Will this flatten as he thinks it will? Will the 3/8 wood not stick with this adhesive?

Please provide your opinions on what can be done at this point.

It's unfortunate that your installer used an acrylic adhesive to glue down a solid. The moisture content in the adhesive is the culprit. He should have known that you can only use Urethane adhesives on a solid installation. To ad insult to injury, it sounds like he was aware that the floor would cup? :? Unfortunately I have seen this before, and most likely the planks will not flatten completely. Also I would say the cupped edges have lifted up from the adhesive.

Thanks for your response. Unfortunately I was afraid that might be the answer.
I talked to him again today, I think he was unaware as he said it was his fault on the glue. He said he would make it right and to give it 2 weeks to make sure it stays cupped. I am hoping it settles and if not that he does actually follow thru and make it right. He was recommended by a realtor that uses him for remodeling houses she flips and she said he does take care of any problems that she has had and that she never had any problem with the floors she had put down. I'm sure hoping he is honest and good to his word as the horse is already out of the barn on this one...
I'll pop in and let know if cupping flattens or what we need to do next - rip up or sand and refinish.
Happy New year.

I agree, Best is the worst. Try Bostik EFA, it's a pleasure, you won't go back.
