I've just finished staining 4 rooms and a staircase in my house (about 650 SQFT). I was wondering how long I can wait to apply the finish and how long between each coat I can wait before sanding and applying another coat. The reason I'm asking is I'm unable to sit aside 2-3 consecutive days to do the entire house.

If I put the first coat of poly down on a Wednesday and then waited until Friday morning to sand and then applied the second coat on Saturday, would that cause any problems?

Also If I don't finish the first coat on Wednesday and I did half Wednesday and half Friday would that cause any issues with the section I did on Wednesday? How long is too long between coats of poly?

I'm using an oil-based poly. http://www.minwax.com/wood-products/interior-clear-protective-finishes/high-build-polyurethane.html

Thank you!

Yeah...me too
I also just finished staining my presumably oak floors with minwax red oak stain (new VOC which sucked from gallon size) yesterday.
Floor is still somewhat tacky this am (12 hours post stain in 60 degree winter weather).
I was planning on using standard minwax polyurethane semi-gloss.
1. Ok to put layer of poly tonight even if it very slightly tacky?
2. What is minimum and max times to poly after stain?
3. What is min and max times between poly coats?
4. Can I use a pole and sanding pad at 120grit lightly in between polys or will it be much better if I get the maroon pad thing?
Thanks
