I am transitioning from tile to hardwood and the heights are equal.

I don't want to use a trim piece because I don't like the looks.

Is it ok to run the ends of the hardwood planks into the tile or should I use a header board and run it perpindicular to the planks so it runs lengthwise with the tile?

If I need to run it lengthwise with the tile, how do I use the tongue/groove on both ends of my runs? I have two doors at opposite ends of the walls and if I put header boards in both places I don't know how to make the tongue and groove work at both doors.

Please Help.

If this is an engineered, you can leave a gap the same size as the grout lines of your tile. Insert foam backer rod into the gap and fill to the top to look just like grout, with sanded color match silicone tile chalking. Then say a prayer for good luck.

You really should use a "T" molding with solid wood, to maintain the required expansion space.

End butting to things isn't as much of a concern as up against the width, although, the tile need expansion also. I'd "T" mold it.

Brians,

Are you the one putting down BC? you can buy a VERY good matching Gunstock T mold at Lowes. It will be Oak but boy, my wife can't tell the difference. I think I paid 20 bucks for mine. Take a peice of wood into Lowes and look for a match.....

Post pictures of your successful install!

Good Luck!!!
