i've down a number of floors where people want is to lace-in new flooring w/ thier old floors (i.e. fill a hole where an old vent was . ect.) sometimes after the refinish is done it all ties in and looks great and sometimes it doesn't, was just curious if anyone knows of a product out there that can help age new wood so the 2 would match a little better?

A good little trick for that is to pull up some boards in a closet or somewhere less noticeable--being very careful not to break off tongues or bottom of grooves--then using those for patchwork (lace-ins) for vents or somewhere that requires a better visible match.

That's a good idea. I haven't gone that route before...

I always make sure I get the right type of wood to weave by doing a test spot with the customers permission of course. If I still need to "age" the floor, I will price it to add a light, possibly rubbed-on stain coat to make the new look old. I like to do test spots and let the customer decide what looks best!
