when laying a floor and working between two thresholds that are perpedicular to the floor being laid, one end will be grooved and the other tongued.

however, one of the ends have to be cut to meet the threshold board. would you face nail these ends, or do you cut a tongue or groove to match the threshold board?

i would imagine cutting a tongue or groove to match would be ideal, but what if you don't have a router to do this?

the boards can't just float there, especially there and have to be secured. face nailing is fine, but that damn brazilian cherry is not only hard wood, but difficult to patch the nail holes. i guess my question is would face nailing these boards on the ends be "acceptable"?
