I have been installing engineered wood flooring in my house and it has been a real learning curve. I am having problems with the threshold now. I have a picture where it is fit over the tile in the kitchen at the archway. My problem it I don't know how to make it professional at the junction with the molding. I don't know how to post the picture and it is better than I can describe. Please help.
Martha

Now I understand that you scribe the threshold to the rounded corner molding. But I have some other problems.

1. the kitchen tile ends at the Family Room wall and since the threshold is 2" wide it goes behond the molding on that wall by 3/4". The molding is only 1/2". So there is a problem with a corner sticking out.
2. the kitchen tile is lower than the wood by 1/4". Do I adapt it to make the tile floor higher with something?
3. Since the molding has to be raised on the kitchen side do I just add caulk to close the gap?

I have to get it done so I can put these 3 rooms back together and decorate for Christmas. It is really stressing me out.

I appreciate anyone's help,
Martha

PS: Can I post a link to something like Picasa?

Yes, at least that's what I did (mediafire actually, but same idea).

Sorry I can't help you with anything else, since I'm a newb at this.

well you could cut the tile back 3/4 then the threshold would sit further back even with the base, you may need to install another row to make the threshold cover, and cutting the tile would be a mess.

Or are you putting shoe molding on? I would guess you are, so once the shoe is on it would only be 1/4 difference
and I wouldn't be concerned with the 1/4 height difference, t-cap moldings were meant for that purpose

Yeah, all I could see on the first link were the ads, and my email address!

Thank you for the reply. I am replacing all the base molding, so I'm not using 1/4 round.
What would you use to cut the tile back with???? What would you use to cut the wood back? (That's another problem Ihave at the front door).

On longer pieces of base I rip the bottom off gradually so that the top of the base is even. On short pieces it is more noticeable. Is that what you were talking about? Cutting the tile back is easy if you do it before hand. I have a small skill wet saw, cut as far to the edge and finish off with a dremel bit. If you didn't miss cut your corner like that leaving a gap it would look better.
