Just had our hardwoods refinished. They used to be smooth, running your fingernail along would feel like glass. Now they are very rough. Please see close up picture. Is this acceptable? Thanks!

Is this a water-based finish?
How many coats?

I have no idea about the finish. I just know that our old finish was much thickets and smooth

Your contractor will know. Maybe he needs to apply another coat of finish. Is this a gloss sheen? a satin sheen may look better because it reflects less of the surface.
