You are refering to the plunging circular saw with the straight edge, right? I have seen it demonstrated. My problem with bordering last is the face nailing of the borders if they are up against a wall. I agree that installing the field first and trimming is faster than bordering first then filling in the field. I've seen it done in older homes (from 1910 and on) both ways so there doesn't seem to be a history of doing it one way or another. I think guys like me with a strong 5/16" background tend to think borders first then the field. It's just when I see a bordered job with all the borders face nailed everywhere, I think "hack".
