How do you prepare the applicator for oil based finishes?
I use Syntetic Lambswool applicator.
It leaves a lot of little hear on the floor.
What do you do to prevent it?
Do you re use it for the second coat or clean and reuse it ?

Thanks

It's best to run your lambys through your washing machine first but don't put them in the dryer. Let them air dry. Then, take some sticky masking tape and blot the applicator with it. Like getting lint off clothes. Use new applicatores for 1st coats only. After a couple of uses, all the loose fibers usually are gone and it makes a great final coat applicator. Clean right after each use.

Afetr the coat(s) I place it in an old army ammo bucket, That is filled with thinner, Turpentine, It gets changes about every 2-3 weeks. More if we are finishing alot. The bucket is air tight with a rubber gasket so we don't worry about spills

What do you do with the used turpentine thinner? Always a problem around here disposing of "toxic" chemicals.

UMM, usually out with the trash, When it gets changed, The old stuff goes into an insert then back into the thinner gallon or an empty gallon of finish, Not sure if it's the proper way but that's the way it's always been done.
