I recently found this site after searching all over the web for answers, so hopefully you can help me... the sub floor portion of our renovation project is quickly approaching and I want to make sure the installers are giving me the staight info as there have been great discrepancies from various sources re: nailing a wide plank 8" merbau to and existing terazzo floor.

a) does the terazzo need to be sealed first due to humidity/moisture?
b) won't nailing down the plywood negate a sealent?
c) what is the best method to attach the plywood to the terazzo
expansion screws/tapcons?
d) won't the nails/screws/tapcons rupture the 6m vapor barrier?
e) are there anything/steps more I should know about?
I live in south florida hence the terazzo and humidity questions. Wed don't want to glue this product down. Your help will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

Sealing the terazzo would be added protection. installing vinly would be the best if mositure is in question. But screwing threw it is no problem at all. I would just use tar paper overlaping it.Tapcons are the way to go however why would you want to give the plywood a better chance to expand. But this type of installion is done alot in FLA i've lived here all my life my dad and i've done alot of wood floors no problems GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR FLOORS

Thanks for the feed back. I've had several people tell me that tapcons in terazzo either fail or get stripped, and then I would have a creeky floor in those spots. Really don't want that.
