hey folks, I recently pulled up my old wood parquet floors.
The floor was held in place by a black tar glue. i scraped and wiped the floor with mineral sprits.
After this i filled low spots then trowel out a urethane vapor barrier.
This vapor barrier just pealed back up.
So does anyone know if any glue will stick to this stuff or what should i do to this floor to get something to stick?
I have a 5/8 oak hardwood floor id like to glue down
thanks

The asphalt asbestos cutback adhesive, must be removed to just a stain on the concrete. Then a product like ARDEX SD-F skimcoated over the top with a flat trowel, to encapsulate the residue.

ok
hopefully these are the last questions
i can't find either product locally
i found henry 547 unipro patch and skim coat and a mapie product that both say they work over cutback adhesive
is it worth paying the shipping and handling for ardex?
i ordered the soy-gel made by franmar
also after the adrex should i roll/trowel out a vapor barrier?
which is better urethane or the water based?
the urethane smells horrible
sorry for the questions but i only want to do this once
thanks

Mapei products are pretty good, too. Ardex can be overkill... but

What kind of moisture barrier are you going to use? There are some rolled on and some troweled on barriers.

Urethane is always going to be better then waterbased, for moisture resistance. Some urethanes smell more then others. I suggest staying away from Sika, if your worried about fumes. Mapei WFM trowel on membrane, and the Mapei 990 adhesive don't smell all that bad. Well, to me, they don't.

i have priced doing the floor the way you have suggested.
then the other day i thought could i just screw down hardy-board over the cut back adhesive then trowel on the vapor barrier
or lay tar paper under the hardy board as a vapor barrier?
what do you think

I think you going to waste a lot of money, only to have to tear it all back out.
