I just pulled up about 550 sq. ft. of tile and rented a 3 stone grinder to remove the thin set. I got the grinder for the day and used every minute of it. My problem is once I cleaned up the mess i noticed that not all of the thin set was removed. There are 3 places where it is higher than the concrete slab but not by much. When i was cleaning the water avoided these areas so i knew they were high. Is it okay to float hardwood flooring over this? I really want to avoid another rental fee and the mess if all possible.

Thanks for your help.

The flatness has to be within tolerance. How much is it out?

If the high spots are fairly small an SDS drill (chipping hammer) or an angle grinder will work. You then may have to fill in a little because the surface can get a little roughed up.

Nice to see you back Jerry. I like the work you've done on your site.

Especially the stone hearth pics
