I have 2 rooms where I would like to install prefinished bamboo (or get some unfinished white oak) flooring.

Anyhow, my questions pertains to the subfloor. It's a 100 year old house, with what look like 1" x 8" pine planks. In fact it looks EXACTLY like this "Before" picture from another thread: http://www.hardwoodinstaller.com/hardwo ... .php?t=172
http://www.hardwoodinstaller.com/hardwo ... /locy1.JPG

I've gone ahead and sunk a ton of screws into the existing floor in order to really fasten it to the joists. There are no creaks and the floor feels solid.

Is this subfloor ok to install over?
I have one long hump (not sure of the height) that runs through 2 rooms. I plan on planing this section down in order to level it with the surrounding area.

I don't want to cut corners, but at the same time, I would rather not buy 100's of dollars worth of 3/4" plywood if the existing floor is adequate.

Thanks,
Scott

Install your flooring at a 90º or a 45º to the slats, on top of asphalt imprgnated felt.

Thanks for the input.... Judging by your response, I guess going over the pine will be ok.

another quick one.. I'm up in Massachusetts. The humidity is anywhere from 70-80% right now on any given day. The specs for the bamboo state that it should be installed when the humidity is around 40%.

Should I just wait until the fall?

What's the temperature & humidity like inside your home, not outside!

That's what matters.
