I found out that the builders layed the hardwood flooring before the cabinets went in. What tool can I use to cut the old hardwood (flushed) to the cabinets? So I begin can install the new hardwood flooring. I used a circular saw to cut as close to the edge as I can, but I have about 2-3 inches to go the reach the edge of the cabinets. The old hardwood is 3/4in. thick and the new wood is 5/8in. thick.

That works but alas, they are expensive, hard to find to rent (if at all) and somewhat dangerous to use. Can you say kick back? I just did this exact thing. I used my Sawzall with a 12" blade. It bends underneath to get right up to the cabinets. You will damage the toekicks so remove the kickboards first. Be careful not to cut into or through the subflooring. It went pretty fast for me. You got to be a wiz with a Sawzall though.

I use that same Crain Toe-kick saw. You do have to hang on to it and keep your right knee away from it :)

thanks for the suggestion and warning. I think it will work. I found a Toe-Kick Saw @ Harbor Freight for $49.99. A little weaker than the Crain.
