The stair nose supplied to me for my flooring project doesn't match the stain color of the flooring, so I'd like to strip it and restain it myself for a better match. Any tips on stripping the alum. oxide top coat? Sanding is out because it's a hand scraped texture.

Thanks!

Have you done this before? It's not so easy matching a stain, and you may wish you'd left it alone. How far off is the color? You don't say what wood it is, but depending on the wood, if the stair nosing is just too light in color, leaving it in the sunlight could darken it a bit so that it matches the flooring better. And over the years, it may even out more.
