My husband decided to resand our kitchen floor. Go the red oak select floor down to raw wood after 17 years of street shoe that had worn down. Put 2 coats of street shoe satin down friday evening. wait time between coats 3 hours.
Sunday, abraded the floor with 120 (mistake #1) and put coat 3 down of street shoe satin. I thought it looked fine, he noticed a kind of mottled look under the finish. I could live with this.
Monday, took floor down with 120 grit (to get finish off) and then 220 screening, (not paper) Another coat of Semi gloss Street shoe, because he felt the satin was too lack luster. This coat looks horrible. Orange peel galore all over, some areas look like it wouldnt even take the finish, like it moved off the floor. Also, has some weird tiny lines running all over the place, someone suggested it was from the screen and not paper. He said when he began to pour the street shoe, it had clumps in it. (mistake #2 or 3 at this point)
At this point in the game I dont know what to do, except feel like this is way too many coats of finish since friday. So frustrated at this point. Not sure where to go or what to use at this point.
