our floor is in, and looks great...thanks to the help on this board...we are overall happy with just how much impact new flooring and paint have had on our little condo.

near our fireplace hearth, we laid slate tile....well, where he was working on the tile, his knee pads have scratched the $hit out of the floor. the scratches are white, and make me sick to my stomach, since the our remodel isn't even done yet, even though the floor is...

i used a minwax felt tip stain pen on some of the scratches, and it works quite well, elminating the white look of the scratch, but the area is rather large.

(?) i am wondering if there is any other idea people have for hiding these white scratch marks - short of replacing the wood. wax? refinish?

Has the tile guy accepted responsibility, and liability?

The MinWax "Wipe on poly" can be rubbed into the scratches, and then, about a half hour later, lightly rub off the overflow on the surrounding surfaces with a rag very lightly damped with mineral spirits.

This will make faint scratches almost invisible, but will not really fill significantly deep scratches. Yo may be surprised at how unnoticeable they become though, when you are not focusing your attention right where you know the scratches are.
