Any opinion about buying the hardwood strips (3"-4" width and 3/4" thick) now and storing them in the heated basement over the winter until the summer installation?

Sincerely,

If it is dry ( 45 to 50% RH ) and the bundles are stacked well off the concrete floor, you should be ok. You will still need to acclimate to the living environment when it comes time to install the flooring. Consider placing a sheet of plastic film on the concrete where you are going to store the flooring, just in case there are excessive moisture emissions.
