I installed and finished a white oak floor about 9 months ago. Soon after the finishing the floor began to squeak everywhere, on the edges and the body of the floor. I contacted the flooring mfg and they came to look. They checked out the floor and said it was aproblem with the subfloor gripping the staples. They have begun seeing this on numerous occasions and it seems to only occur if the subfloor is Weyerhauser "gold edge" subfloor. Has anyone else had this problem?

Is that OSB or plywood? Never heard that yet. Have you contacted Weyerhauser? You may also want to contact http://www.hpva.org/node/1 who write standards for plywood and OSB manufacturing. Maybe see if you can get it tested.

this is an osb product not plywood. weyerhauser is coming tommorrow to inspect the subfloor.they say most problems are moisture related. the floor is 2000 sq ft and it squeaks everywhere, it just seems as though there is a bigger problem. i have installed floors for 20 years and finished for 15 and have never seen anything even close to this

Well don't believe everything they tell you unless they want to pony up for replacement of the floor.

weyerhauser inspector jotted down the manufacturing info from the bottom side and is sending it to the plant/lab. he said they will be able to inform us of any problems with that run. no, i will not take the first answer at face value. if they do have a little problem i would think this is the first step to that admission. one other choice is to have a nwfa inspector come out but they want to tear up some flooring. the owners are not quite at that point yet. thanx for the reply

Sounds to me like a defect in the floor. Any indication of the floor moving? Where was the floor purchased, did you do a moisture check on the sub floor as well as the hardwood?

This is an odd problem. I am a new homeowner and have tackled a lot of projects that most DIY'er websites would tell me were way over my head. However, this sounds like an issue with the floor. I always search products on the internet for this exact type of comment so I know not to buy it! I would try and get your money back and start over!

Sounds to me like a moisture issue. Was a test done on the flooring and subfloor?
