Hi, I purchased 200 sq.ft. of Tigerwood from Hobo not too long ago. It is approximately 11/16th inches thick when measured with a tape measure. I've looked up the Janka rating, which per the manufacturer (http://www.elegancehardwoodflooring.com/) was 3840, although I can't find it on their website anymore. [shrug]

I've done some reading, and it seems that the consensus is that a stapler is the way to go. I live in a new house, 3/4" OSB subflooring. So my question is, will staples work with this type of flooring? As a secondary question, I live in the Midwest, and it's of course starting to get relatively dry around here, do I have anything to worry about installing a wood floor this time of year?

Thanks in advance,

Markus

Hmm, 34 views and no replies. I guess I can assume that staples will work. I'll do some more digging for humidity information. The wood has been acclimating (sitting in my living room) for 8 weeks now, and I do have a central humidifier that I will be running. If I can maintain the house at 40% humidity is that enough? Figuring that it will probably be higher in the summer months (Chicago), even with A/C...

Yes, you can use staples. You may have to finagle with the air pressure and the foot plate if the tongue splits. As long as you can maintain 40% right now you should be OK.
