Hi,

I've learned more about hardwood flooring from this site than I thought possible. I've finally narrowed down my flooring choices to either 3/8 engineered or 5/16 and 7/16 solid and am now in need of stapler recomendations as BR-111 says to use 1 1/4" staples with the thicker flooring. The only staplers I've found that shoot staples >1" are the highpro 4090, the spotnails WS4840W2 and the bostitch sx150-bh2. I've searched the site found references to the highpro, inconsistant, and the spotnails, no real opinions, and nothing on the bostitch. Any experiences with these nailers, the bostitch in particular, would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Dave

I researched the same thing a while back and went with the Spotnail that you mentioned. It used to be called the Mannington Floor Monster I think. I have not used it yet, but it was highly recommended, as were the senco 1/4" crown X 1.25"L X 18ga. staples for 1/2" engineered flooring. I purchased a Bostich but as you said, it only goes to 1" staples which is too small for anything over 3/8" flooring. I'll be putting it on EBAY someday when I get time. HTH Dave

Thanks for the response. Let me know how your install goes. If you're done soon let me know and maybe I can save you from selling it on EBAY.

Regards,

Dave

I'm thinking of putting down the BR-111 7/16" and am pretty much in the same boat. They recommend the Powernail 200 or 250. Please let us know how it goes. I'm considering purchasing the nailer and then selling it on EBAY as well. I would rent one, but I'm putting down about 750 sq ft, and I think it will be cheaper to just buy one and resell it.
