Hopefully a basic question but I'm having trouble locating at pneumatic stapler that will work on 9/16" engineered pre-finished flooring. All the laminate/engineered staplers seem to cover up to 1/2" thick and the MIIIFS comes with the 1/2" or 3/4" foot. Do I need to find something specific or can I get away with the 1/2" and/or make my own shim? I did find one reference in another post to a Tarkett-Harris adapter (TK1205 or something like that) but it is about $125 just for the adapter. How critical is it to get something designed exactly for 9/16" flooring? Thanks for any help.

Try putting a thin piece of cardboard between the shoe and the base of the Bostitch M111FS. This will raise the height of the nailer and where it fires the staple into the tongue. The angle won't be effected. With 9/16" engineered, start at about 80 lbs. of pressure. Test it first to ensure it isn't causing bumps in the surface, which happens if the staple isn't placed exactly right in the tongue. Also, use the 1&1/2" staples. You don't need the 2" ones for 9/16". BTW, I installed a mess of Harris-Tarkett Longstrip with their special nailing shoe on my M111FS. Worked great! No problems!

I have several staplers/nailers. I have an old Bostick floor runner for 3/8" (older models werent adaptable for up to 1/2" as they are now) and I got a Spotnails for 1/2' - 9/16". I got it on e-bay for about $100 brand new. well worth it. Its a little clunky compared to the floor runner but it gets the job done and is easy to load and use.

I did end up using the Bostitch MIIIFS with the 1/2" shoe and I did not have to shim it with cardboard. The staples seemed to sit pretty flush right at the base of the top of the tongue at about 70-75 psi on my compressor. I used the 1 1/2" staples too--they worked great. Thanks for the advice.
