Installing 3/4" wide pine over plenty of plywood, using Gary's suggestion (thanks, Gary!) to blind nail AND glue.

I have been reading with interest the discussion about staples being superior to cleats.

3 Questions

1) Bostich M111 is the right tool? I figure I'll "rent" it from ebay.

2) 1.5" or 2" staples?

3) I am terrified of having the staple go only part way in and not be able to get it in or out. Is this actually an issue?

Note to ken/administrator: I have seen people referred to links of the basic steps of installation, refinishing, etc. It would be handy to have them easily available at the top of the forum (or maybe they are and I don;t see them). Might avoid a lot of repeat questions.

Thanks so much for this site - I would not have been so brave without your help.

1- It's the Bostitch MIIIFN

2- 2"

3- If they don't go all the way in you can cut them with wire cutters/snips and set the rest with the edge of a screwdriver.

Note to me:

We have a redesign in the works and I think you'll find it very useful. You are thinking along the same lines as I. When it will be ready is another question.

Bostitch MIIIFN is a cleat nailer, I believe.

Bostitch MIIIFS is the stapler. I think you can retrofit from stapler to nailer.

FN vs. FS
