I am installing 3/4 solid Santos Mahogany in my dining room. the subfloor is 3/4 OSB and I am putting down 15# roofing felt. What length staples should I use? Also it is a typical square room and I will be running the boards perpendicular to the joists. What is the best way to start the flooring if I want to leave a gap for a t-mold between the wood and a ceramic tile open hallway? Tks John

1¾ -2" will work. You don't want them to bust through the subfloor and stick out the bottom.

Floorguyy, have you been able to get 1&3/4" staples for a Bostitch M111 FS? I've never seen them. Only the 1&1/2" and the 2".

That is what I was thinking, but for some reason hit the ¾ symbol. Brain fart.

Will the 2 inch bust through the 3/4 OSB? Seems like it would but I have no idea how much angle the is on the FSIII and what the actual depth of penetration would be. Is there a guide somewhere that tells how deep a 2 " nail will penetrate? Tks John

Also, does anyone have any suggestions on how to start the first row if I am going to leave a gap beween the wood and a tiled open hallway. I am planning on using a t-mold to bridge the gap and I believe it has a 3/4" center spacer. There will also be t-mold going down the left side of the room as the tiled open foyer is there. The wood will butt up to this area. How much clearance should I give for the wood to move under the T-mold? What is the best way to attach the molding to the floor? Tks John
