Hi,

Apologies if this had been asked and answered before.

3/8 Bruce engineered, tongue and groove (non-locking). Can be floated, glued down, or stapled down.

Is it OK to both staple down and use T&G glue? Or will that cause issues if/when the flooring expands/contracts. I like the idea of T&G glue as a possible barrier to liquids getting under the flooring but I'd prefer to not float if possible.

I also have two narrow hallways that meet in an L, I want to try a "log cabin" corner as opposed to using T molding. I'm not sure how well that will work if I float.

Thanks in advance!

It's not going to affect the movement, to a point of being a problem, if you do both. That being said...IMO it's over kill. If your worried about "liquids getting under the flooring"... if there's excessive "liquid" to possibly cause this problem, your going to have problems regardless, and other issues as well.

That will definetely help liquids from penetrating the joint but it has to oze out the top of the joint. Or you can try using http://www.cal-florstore.com/-ClickSeal ... _p_22.html

If someone's worried about liquid seeping through the seems of a hardwood floor... I would re-think what type of floor covering is suitable to install in that area.. If there's enough liquid to penetrate the joints of a hardwood floor...that's excessive liquid on a wood floor. It's going to affect the finish, open the grain, and start delamination. But hey...the joints may be protected  Gluing the joints of a laminate floor would suit a whole different purpose, since the melamine surface is impervious.

Hi and thanks for the replies. The area itself is typically dry. There is a sliding patio door that is very well sealed with a threshold pan but there's the possibilty of a little rain coming in when the door is opened. I'm primarily worried about the occasional spilt drink and wet dog coming in from the rain.

Thanks again.
