I'm getting ready to install 3/4" wood on my stairs. I've read the website on installing on stairs, but I'm not quite sure about one thing. Do I place the riser on the tread after getting the first stair done? It certainly looks like that is the way to do it, but I thought I would check before I got too far into the installation.

Before researching I planned out and sketched the new risers going all the way down to the the old tread while the new tread goes up against it . After looking and asking around I decided to do the opposite.

I just finished cutting and dry fitting all my risers so Im pretty much commited at this point.
