What is the best way to get stains out of floors ? Can bleach and a scrub brush be used ?

Pine floor. Don't know what caused stains. They were there when house was bought.

Maybe it's an old pine floor that's beat up and already "distressed" and one you don't care about, but I'd never use bleach or a scrub brush on a nice wood floor.

I've heard several people mention this brand of product.

Its a floor I do care about but it does need refinishing. I'm thinking that maybe a few passes with sander may get rid of whatever I'm calling stains, large spots, marks

If it needs a refinish anyway, then scrub away. Also try some mineral spirits.

mr,

I had problems with glue and residue build up on my santos mahogany floor after install. The mineral spirits took it right off.

I'd say it's worth a shot to try it. If your pine floor is beat up and needs a refin anyway, I don't think it can do much harm.

The stains may have been there a long time and a sand and refinish might be your only solution if they won't come up.

staining may be from pets or spills that have penetrated into the wood and the joints... You may need to remove and replace the planks in these areas.
