I'd have to ask why are you doing this? B. Cherry usually looks different new than after it's been in a house for 6 + months. So if you stain ro to match a new floor, it won't match later. Why not just use B. Cherry? OR, is the question, I want to stain ro to look like B. Cherry looks like? I think Dura Seal Rosewood is pretty close. It's a brownish red and dark. Maybe too dark!

thanks, for the reply gary. we are installing prefinished B.C in the dining room and the home owner wants us to match the existing red oak in the house to the D/R the oak doesn't butt up to the B.C. but i would like to get it as close as possible

The BC will be much darker in no time at all!! Then is she going to want you to stain the oak again to match it?? How about after it darkens just a little more, after the second sand and stain??

I would get it pretty specific on my contract, as to the color change BC goes through and you will not be held responsible for the red oak not matching, as time passes.
