We have just had new red oak hardwood installed in our home. They sanded the floor and stained the floor yesterday. When I went to look at the floor this morning the stain appears lighter around the edges of the room where they used their edger. They put the first coat of urethane down today and told me when it dries we will not see the color difference. I am very nervous about this. Any ideas.

Thanks
Pete

Well...how'd it turn out?

Could be finer grit of paper on edges, or over palm sanding around perimiter. Staining is certainly a crapshoot sometimes.

Hope it turns out to your satisfaction...

Will

In order to achieve what the competition cannot grasp, we must complete what they will not attempt. Nobody ever said it would be easy, but it's darn sure worth it.

Yep, the edges were not sanded the same as the field, making the stain take differently in the finer scratch.

I bet it is still noticed.
