For our new house, we have picked 'cherry' color on birch wood cabinets (from Romar cabinets -
http://www.romarcabinet.com/). The entire first floor (LR, DR, BR, KIT, FR, powder RM, laundry, study), stairs and the landing area in the second floor and fire place mantel are red oak. We can pick a stain that we want for the red oak. I'm not sure how to pick the right stain. How do people pick hardwood stains, given that there is cherry color on birch kitchen cabinets.
Here are my thoughts :
* should we pick one stain for all the above areas mentioned.
* how should we match the color - should it match the color of the cabinets.
* i don't like the grain on the oak floor as much.
* on top of it, the cabinets have not yet arrived, but my builder wants us to pick the stain for red oak.
any suggestions or advice...
thanks.
