Can someone please let me know why my new floor is squeaking already.I have a 3/4"x3-1/4" Maple flooring that has been installed in a new home for about 2 months, and it is driving me crazy now with squeaks . The company i bought it from recommended that i glue the floor with a flexible glue called (Dural BL55 adhesive) They said it would stop any squeaking noises that will start in years to come, but when i told that to the contracter he said you never glue a hardwood floor that is 3/4".So i didn't get him to glue the floor and now i regrete not doing it. can someone please tell me what i have to do now.

A 3/4" x 3&1/4" wood floor should be able to be successfully installed by nailing only. Some do glue all their floors down but in my opinion, only wide plank floors need the extra help of adhesives. The noise maybe the flooring is drying out or it maybe that it was not nailed well enough. In the end, it is usually the installer's responsibility to ensure a quiet, well installed floor. The installer should make an inspection and determine the cause. It could be that your humidity levels have been too low as well and humidification may be required.

Please understand, the cause may not be the installer's error/fault. As I mentioned, the cause might be an interior humidity level that is too low, which may cause the flooring to make some noise. This would be a homeowner preventative maintenance issue if this was determined to be the case.
