Hello, my white oak has developed a splinter in the edge that I think I need to address. It’s about 1.5 inches long. How should I go about repairing this? Thanks everyone.

What I do is use a utility knife or other sharp thin blade to lift the splinter just enough to slide some glue under all that is loose. Then I use a toothpick as a cushion when I staple the splinter down with a staple gun. You can use a regular paper staple or a thicker staple from one of the squeeze guns. After the glue has dried and the staple is flush the rest of the damage is puttied with the matching color of putty. A putty knife or some pliers that will grab the staple will remove it and the tiny hole will be filled with putty, too. Practice with staple placement so another area is not damaged.
