I had a bamboo floating floor installed a year ago. Several months ago I noticed three places at different locations that have formed a space in between the boards. Why would this happen and what can be done about it? This really upsets me, as I took up old tile and carpet and lived with concrete two years waiting until I could replace the floor with wood.
:(

Are the spaces on the end joints? If so, it could have something to do with foot traffic if it's in a high traffic area. This would be more likely with a form of click or lock floor and not necessarily a glued one. That's my first guess. Need more details.

It could be a few things.

As we come into the winter we turn on heaters. Heat dries out the interiors air(humidity) Bamboo being hygroscopic, will shrink. These gaps may be the end result of the shrinking, combined with places of the least resistance.

Another thing that causes gaps in floating glueless plank flooring is a low area the flooring flexes into. Even slightly it can over time, make the flooring separate.

Another is a damaged locking mechanism, not holding the planks together.
