I'm in the process of planning to install a floating floor over a concrete slab.

I've never done this before, so I've been doing a lot of online reading etc.

I'm leaning towards the products from Kahr's as they seem to have universally good reviews and seem reasonably priced.

I have a question regarding the spacers that are supposed to be placed between the wall and the floor to allow for expansion.

In my home, the drywall does not go all the way to the slab. There is about an inch or so gap between the slab and the drywall.

Is the expansion gap supposed to be between the flooring material and the edge of the drywall or is it supposed to be between the flooring material and the wall studs?

Thanks,

Sam

it's suppose to be from the verticle obstructions. If the drywall is high enough for the floor to slide under you can safely measure your expansion from the studs

Ya, what Kevin said. Also with the rotating lock design on the Kahrs T&G, Don't try and go under the sheetrock or installed baseboards, unless your cut the lock off and glue it together.
