hi guys

im about to install a 15mm solid wood floor - not a hardwood one like my maple i put down , just a solid wood one .
im thinking of using some accoustic underlay prior to fitting...is this recomended in your opinions ?
its going to be put onto a sub floor , moisture not an issue on 3rd floor

i was thinking of using this :
Timbermate Duratex Acoustic Underlay
http://www.realoakfloors.co.uk/timberma ... derlay.php

spec:
Independent tests prove Timbermate underlays significantly reduce the acoustic noise levels of wood and laminate flooring.
Timbermate Duratex is the traditional high density rubber underlay for use under laminate, solid timber and engineered wooden floors.
Timbermate Duratex is particularly suited to wood-based suspended floors where moisture vapour is not an issue.

•Independently tested to produce a rating of 57 SONE.
•3.60 mm gauge high density resilient rubber underlay.
•Prevents overstraining of wood and laminate boards.
•Provides an excellent sub-floor masking minor surface imperfections.
•Simple, quick and easy to install.

would you consider an underlay on a solid floor ?
thanks rob

I think it is not completely necessary. However, if sound is a concern for you then it would definitely help.
