I do not have enough engineered flooring to complete a room in a new house. I am short 8 linear board feet and want to avoiding buying a new box. I suggested a border around the room of a maple board [i.e. to frame around the walnut]. My contractor is worried about expansion and contraction where the engineered is butted against a solid plank of maple. The installation is over hydronic radiant heat. Would appreciate some input: Will expansion be that much a problem? Should I find another "border solution"? or break down and buy a new box for $300.?
Any advice would be appreciated. :?:
