Hi everyone, solid Red Oak floors are just about done and we've saved the best for last... the stairs.
I have one main closed-in stairway (12 steps) which was carpeted. I've pulled all of the carpet and found that the stair construction was definitely not done with hardwood in mind. The risers are super out of plum and the treads are in need of some love also... all of this seems repetitively strait forward to correct though.
What I'm scratching my head about is the skirt board. Do you typically rip it out and refit it after the treads and risers are in, or do you do your best to butt up to it and try to get a clean seam? Just wondering what the typical application is?
Thanks
