Ok, I just finished a great install in my basement using Kahrs woodloc floating. My neighbors are also finishing their basement but their contractor said he did a ton of research on floors and they went with what he suggested.

Well, I just went over and saw standard 3/4" solid oak flooring GLUED to the cement floor...I assume glue to each other also. He then did the standard sand and site finishing. Sure it looks good now...but what is going to happen to this floor? Our basements are very dry around here, but come on!

Opinions/thoughts?
thx

Very probable that that solid floor will cup UNLESS he used a moisture barrier under it. NOFMA and the NWFA do not recommend gluing solid directly to concrete. Urethane adhesives are not moisture barriers and all concrete will emit some moisture over time. Furthermore, solid is not recommended below grade, even with moisture barriers. I would be very surprised if this floor did not cup.
