We are building in North Florida - on a crawl space with subfloor - and want to install 5 inch random width red oak - screwed down. Humidity is high here - should I consider going to narrower width floor - or Heart of pine? I like the look of the 5 inch random but am nervous I'll have problems with buckling. Please Help!

Thanks

Laurie

As long as the flooring is well acclimated to the interior ambient conditions the home will be lived in, and maintained those ambient conditions, you will be OK.

If you rarely run the AC or heater, and have windows open all the time, you may want to consider c-tile or carpet.
