Dear all,

I am in process of replacing floors in my 2400 sq ft house.
I was told that engineered floor is better because of its tolerance to high and low humidity.
Myself I like more solid hardwood.

Which floor is better.
I assume that solid has more value. If so which type of wood is better to use for Canadian climate

There are some excellent engineered woods, like Owens Plank, which I think is available through this site.

I have also heard great reviews, for a company called Realwood Floors.

Both have engineered products, with a sandable wear layer comparable to a ¾ solid. It looks feels and ages just like a solid.

Solids are best, in my opinion.
Agreed that engineered floors do not shrink and swell AS MUCH as solids, but solids are the best "REAL WOOD FLOORS"...
Ask any "real-wood-man" about wood floors and he'll tell you "SOLIDS".
