I have wood laminate flooring that was installed by the previous owner of my house. It appears it was glued down. 3 planks have separated where they but up against each other at the end of the plank. They are in separate areas of the house, but all located in a hallway whish is approx 3'6" wide and it appears the board that goes under the baseboard is the one that is slipping.

My question is, how can I get them to slide back over? There is not enough room between the wall and the board to get a sticky tennis shoe in there and kick it back into place, or to swing something like a rubber mallet. Is there any kind of super powerful suction cup that would stick onto the board hard enough to allow me to pull it back into place? Or do you think it's possible to build up some large layer of blue painter's tape with a screwdriver embedded in it to give me something to tap horizontally on the screwdriver and get the board to slide (did that make sense)? Is my only option to pull up the baseboard and get back in there to tap it back in place? I really don't want to have to deal with removing then re-nailing, caulking and painting those baseboards.

I'm a newby if you couldn't tell, so feel free to explain things in terms a weekend DIY'er would understand! ( <--- me)

Thanks in advance,

Clint in Dallas

If the planks were glued down, the end joint seperation was more than likely installed that way,( or slid apart before the adhesive had a chance to set ). Unless the planks are loose, or it's a floating installation.

If it's a gluedown and loose...You will need to figure some way to get some adhesive under there, ( possibly injection). If it's a gluedown and not loose...your not going to be able to close the gap. If its a floater...Just slide back together.
