I built a new home in 2005, had ''Skor'' engineered ''Colonial Pecan'' flooring installed, from ''Buell flooring group''. [ Dallas, Tx. ] They must have went out of business-- phone numbers do not work anymore, came here for help.
The flooring held up-- until my wife got sick, and went under Hospice care in 2011, passed away in Jan. 2012. She got confined to a ''scooter chair'' and messed the finish up in several places, turning the scooter chair on the flooring and I need to ''touch up'' several large areas where finish is worn to ''white'' spots where chair was turned. Is there a product that is available to tune up/spot refinish this flooring, or do I need to try to find someone to sand and refinish the whole thing? This is in a cabin in the woods and the area is approx. 12'x20' dining area/family room combo. Thanks in advance for any pointers/advice you can share with me.

It's a tricky question without actually seeing the spots, however in most cases a resand is needed. If a contractor would be willing to do a test in a less visible place it may tell more about the result than anything else.

If I may, could I ask if you are planning to sell your home? Or is this for you? With the passing of your wife (I know this will sound odd) but will you miss the spots? I remember cleaning up some things after a loved one passed. It was hard and in some way I wish I hadn't so I could have the memory... But that's just me.

In any case, a complete will be a sure thing for the spots. Most other techniques may be a waste of time if the finish is blistering maybe. Just my opinion

Yes, I am planning on selling and moving across the state. I think I will just try some different ''touch-up'' products--- ''Minwax'' pecan or maybe a product recommended by my daughter, ''Zep''. I really do not have much to lose, it seems, by trying this.

Sorry to say the manufacturer won't warranty wheeled traffic like that anyways. Find a good finish guy.

I hit it with some of the ''Minwax'' touch-up, in the yellow can, it somewhat fixed it.

Good job. It's improvement. Sometimes we think the worst.
