Can someone please tell me the advantages and disadvantages of Silk Oil vs. polyurethane for oak hardwood flooring?? I am looking at Coswick solid oak hardwood and I really like their Silk Oil finish - its matte finish will be wonderful with my slightly rustic interior design.

Coswick says that Silk Oil finish is good for beach houses, and waterfront restaurants on their web site. And after testing water on some of the Coswick wood samples, the Silk Oil finish does seem almost water-repellent. I do have pets so occasionally have pet vomit and other issues to deal with, so wondering how it would stand up to that kind of thing?

Any feedback on silk oil floors in general are appreciated. Thank you.
