 Post subject: silica sand for leveling

It was suggested to me to use silica sand for the leveling of floors and was wandering if anyone had any input on this for both floating and nail down floors.

Tarkett and maybe Kahrs had this as a suggested form of floor prep a few years back. Heard it may not be in their specs anymore for floaters. Not sure about naildowns, but I've heard newspapers, shingles, saw dust..you name it for naildowns.

don't work with it too much, silica is highly carcinogenic...banning it up here in Canada soon
