Sorry if this duplicates previous topics....

1. Is it necessary to use a self-leveling compound underneath a floated, engineered wood floor? The concrete foundation underneath the flooring isn't perfectly flat, but I hate to go to all the trouble (and expense) of leveling if it's not absolutely necessary. I'm not so concerned if there's some "sponginess" in the flooring after it's installed, I just don't want it to affect the durability.

2. About how much does it cost to have a self-leveling compound put down?

I rarely use self leveling compound. I just grind the high spots and fill the low spots with Mapei PlaniPatch cement compound, that I can feather edge.

Cost?

Some do it by the hour + materials. Some put a sq.ft. price.
Without seeing the project, there is absolutely no way to give even a ballpark figure to thrown out there.
