We have a large glue down job coming up (5/8" Unfinished Engineered) in a 3 unit new construction condo building. The subfloor is going to be gypcrete. We have glued to gypcrete before, but never on a new construction job like this, just older condos in our downtown..

The plans call for us to seal the gypcrete prior to the flooring installation.. I am waiting on the specs/brand of that product that they would like for us to use to be able to research this further..

My question is; it seems to me that sealing this gypcrete could cause issues with bonding of the new flooring.. Does anyone have experience with this? Should I recommend not sealing?

Any help and advice would be appreciated.

What did you do for the old gypcrete jobs? If it's dusty then you must seal it. I'd speak to your adhesive manufacturers tech dept.

Thank for the reply. In the past we have just glued to what was there.. I'm not sure if what we glued to was sealed or not and I'm not sure if it's common to seal it or not.. I have emailed and called Bostik about this and have yet to get a reply. Thanks again!

You must have better gypcrete than we do. All the old stuff here is all dusty and cracked. I use this: http://www.ardexamericas.com/en-us/Prod ... s/GS4.aspx

Must use the P-51 primer of course.
