being as I am pretty handy and that I have not been able to find good work being done in my area I decided to do the install myself. I think I would be happy to say I did it too.

I made a mistake. After sanding the highspots of the 5/8ths OSB I glued and screwed down 5/8ths ply. Problem was I use a short level and after getting a 6ft level I noticed that there were 3 high joist with 6 feet in between the highspots.....that is after putting down 5 rows of wood! The wave from high to low is a little more than an 1/8th of an inch. the instructions say I am allowed 1/8th over 10 feet so i am thinking I am doing 1/8th over 3ft.

So i started shading the remaining floor out am making a mess of it with my belt sander. So I stopped and came here!

The floor already slopes a little bit. I learned out to take a row out without ME seeing the damage (does the wood get damaged if carefully lifted and cleats taken out?)

So after reading a bit I am thinking of smoothing out the sanding I have done, shimming lowspots with heavy printer paper and screwing down 1/4" ply (no glue this time).

But screwing up big time for a 2nd time on this is something I cannot afford.

What do you think of my plan?

Thanks.....I will be good at this by the time I start the other rooms...I wish I had more experience.
I like doing things myself. A "pro" in this region often means "hack"....maybe I have just had bad luck.

When it come to the stairs though I will have to find a pro....no way I am doing those.
